TERMS OF SALE:
1. A Non-refundable deposit of 30% of the purchase price is required in order to hold a baby. If this deposit is not received within 7 days after phone or email committment, baby bird is available to next buyer. No exceptions. Deposits can be in the form of a personal check; however, final payment must be either a US Postal Money Order, or if picking up baby, in cash.
2. Baby birds are expected to be paid for in full within 2 weeks after weaning and/or prior to leaving or upon pick-up. Young or adult pairs are expected to be paid in full within 30 days unless other arrangements have been made and approved by High Desert Aviary.
3. We will NOT sell to any child under the age of 18. We will also not sell one of our precious babies as a "present" unless the person buying the "present" is buying it for himself/herself.
4. We do NOT charge a fee to be on our waiting list. Nor do we charge a deposit for eggs laid or future clutches. We will only ask for a deposit when we have a chick in hand and you have confirmed you want it. See #1 regarding deposit.
5. Shipping - We prefer local sales. However, we do offer shipping from Boise,Idaho via Delta airlines. Depending on time of shipment and airport, shipping can be prepaid or sent shipping collect. Please be aware that there have been recent problems with birds shipped via Delta into their Atlanta hub. If they have a long layover over 2 hours, it seems they get "lost" and do not make connections. This occurs more often on weekends so we prefer to ship only during the week if we use Delta. The other option available is Continental which we can use when we are going to be in Portland, Oregon. We will not make a special trip to Portland to ship your bird as it is a 12 hour round trip - rather we will plan to ship when we will be in Portland for our bi-monthly visit. Shipping charges with Continental must be pre-paid. We do not impose a fuel charge for taking your bird to the airport for shipment in either Boise or Portland. We do impose a fuel charge if we must drive more than 75 miles one way to deliver your bird or meet you. Please also note the following: Risks with shipping are minimal, but Buyer must assume any and all risk therein.
Please also note: There is a $25 non-refundable crate charge per crate for shipping. No other fees will apply. We only charge you the exact amount of what we are quoted so there will be no surprises.
6. Our bird room is closed to the public. This is not because we have something hide, but for the health and security of our flock. Digital pictures of our pairs are available if desired.
7. Our babies come with a DNA sexing certificate and are close-banded with violet bands inscripted with HDA, # and state code. They also come with their first baby toy, a sample of their current food, and a basic care sheet. We are available via cell phone if you have any questions.
8. Our babies will be fully weaned and eating well on their own for a minimum of two weeks before they are allowed to leave our care. Babies will also have a "baby clip" prior to leaving. However, we do encourage fledging and all babies have mastered the art of flying prior to going to your home. If you are insistent about not clipping, let us know beforehand. We may offer flight suit training in the future - stay tuned.
9. Any bird sold by High Desert Aviary which is unable for any reason to reside in the new owner's home should be returned to us. No refund of purchase price or airfare will be paid for any returning bird unless a new home is found or arranged for and details arranged between the parties involved or unless special circumstances warrant. At no time do we at High Desert Aviary want one of our birds to end up in a rescue situation and a home with us is guaranteed for any bird unable to reside within it's new home.
10. Finally, we do have references available upon request. Just let us know and we will be happy to share.
