TERMS OF SALE:
1. A Non-refundable deposit of 30% of the purchase price is required in order to hold a baby. If this deposit is not received within 7 days after phone or email committment, baby bird is available to next buyer. No exceptions. Deposits can be in the form of a personal check; however, final payment must be either a US Postal Money Order, or if picking up baby, in cash.
2. Baby birds are expected to be paid for in full within 2 weeks after weaning and/or prior to leaving or upon pick-up. Young or adult pairs are expected to be paid in full within 30 days. We reserve the right to refuse a sale to anyone if we feel it is not in the bird's best interest.
3. Shipping - We prefer local sales. We can meet/deliver within 3 hours drive each way for an additional fuel surcharge TBD depending on distance travelled. We live 6 hours from Portland, OR (PDX) airport. We are in Portland every 6-8 weeks and can arrange to ship your bird(s) when we are in town. No additional fuel charge will apply since we will already be going. We ship with Continental airlines only. Their prices have increased - minimum is $149 and must be prepaid. Carrier fee is $25 and is non-refundable and must be prepaid. We buy a new pet taxi and out fit it with the appropriate size perch, food/water containers, and place a new hand towel on the bottom. Any paperwork is placed in a manila envelope and taped under the towel on the bottom of the carrier. When we have made the shipping arrangements, we will contact you via email with the confirmation/reference #, flight info, and any other pertinent information. We will also follow up with an email or phone call once we have delivered your bird(s) to the airport so you know they are on their way. Risks with shipping are minimal, but Buyer must assume any and all risk therein.
4. Our bird room is closed to the public. This is not because we have something hide, but for the health and security of our flock. Digital pictures of our pairs are available if desired.
5. Our babies come with a DNA sexing certificate and are close-banded with violet bands inscripted with HDA, # and state code. They also come with their first baby toy, a sample of their current food, and a basic care sheet. We are available via cell phone if you have any questions.
6. Our babies will be fully weaned and eating well on their own for a minimum of two weeks before they are allowed to leave our care. Babies will also have a "baby clip" prior to leaving. However, we do encourage fledging and all babies have mastered the art of flying prior to going to your home. If you are insistent about not clipping, let us know beforehand. We may offer flight suit training in the future - stay tuned.
7. It is our goal to provide you with a loving, healthy companion. However, if you find yourself needing to rehome the bird in the future, please let us know and we will be happy to place an ad on our website at no charge of course. Unfortunately, we are unable to buy back or take back any bird once it leaves our facility unless special circumstances warrant and only at High Desert Aviary's discretion.
8. Finally, we do have references available upon request. Just let us know and we will be happy to share.
